A six-minute glimpse into the mind of Derek Harper— a college-bound black student and a top-notch track star. Caught within the cutthroat and competitive culture of his high school, Derek struggles with the responsibility of pleasing the surrounding adults in his life—and himself. When the pressure to succeed culminates on the day of his SAT test, only then does he realize his sense of agency. Told in non-linear form, Time Out explores the universality of racing against time and the pressure to achieve Greatness.
